And all I can say is "...how is this so popular?" Now I know the first question is " Jamie, why would you make yourself suffer?" The answer my children is simply " For Science."  I honestly just needed to see what the big deal is and to be able to have an opinion about it, a legit one without just going with what I heard from others about said film(s).
     ALRIGHT FIRST AND  FOREMOST.  Why are people infatuated with Bella and Edward's relationship?  Why is this the perfect relationship? She's the most awkward, insecure, bland, manipulative, and not to mention selfish main character I ever seen yet she's painted almost as a picture of perfection even though she's not even given any permanent qualities good OR bad she's just there constantly tucking her hair behind her ear and biting her lip half the time.  Now Edward I understand his awkwardness a little bit more, he's basically attracted to his food. Which as I'm sure may be a bit hard when they're shoving their tongue awkwardly into your mouth and you can't fully eat them. xD Just it's his mood swings that get me, he goes to extremes, he's either watching you sleep or staying states away from you as you scream and cry and not only ruin your own life but your loving father's life who only wants to help you. Le sigh. Maybe those two deserve each other, it can be a delightful form of punishment the only issue being that them being together seems to affect the lives of everyone around them.
   Well enough of those two douche-bags now for the side characters.
THIS IS WHERE IT ALMOST BECOMES A GOOD STORY.  The side characters have so much more for them as mains! I wanna watch a story about Jasper and Alice or even a whole movie on Rosalie's past, I mean she was practically Uma Thurman in Kill Bill apparently, that's badass! I mean hell I'm still waiting on more Emmet and Carlisle back-story. Carlisle in my opinion is one of the most interesting characters! I mean he's been alive for so long and he's a doctor A DOCTOR VAMPIRE. That's incredible! He's around blood ALL THE TIME and he takes in teenage vampires as his children, see where's THIS movie?!  Push Bella and Edward out and focus on the cool characters and we almost have a decent story.
Hell, even a story about Charlie, Bella's dad must be more interesting! I mean a cop who has to investigate a murder case involving vampires and his daughter is dating a vampire! Gold!
   Okay now onto everyone's favorite thing about Twilight, the triangle. The Team Edward/Jacob bullcrap.
   Jacob is a wonderful person, he loves Bella but isn't obsessive, he just really takes rejection horribly. Like..in the in denial sort of way. I'm still kind of confused after Eclipse with Bella's feelings since I'm under the impression she loves him as a best friend/brother. She loves him but is not IN love with him, because everyone seems to make it seem like she's in love with both but loves Edward more which in my book doesn't cut it, that's not how it works. Not now, not ever.  I'm not saying Jacob is perfect infact I really preferred him before he "phased"  he became much more of a cocky hot head which I understand has alot to do with the whole wolf thing just goodness what happened to sweet Jacob? I guess he's still there under all of that angered warm arrogance.  
In the end I really don't care for either Jacob or Edward, if I was in Bella's position...and didn't have her perosnality and were me... XDD Whatever the case being the best male characters imo are Jasper and Carlisle. Nuff said.

Edit: I forgot to add a bit about the wolf pack.
I actually really liked the whole Native American thing they did with the wolves as a plus. Just I probably demasculate every transformation scene for as soon as I see them as bear sized wolves I squeal " THE BABIES!~" And then I'm saddened once they return to their form as shirtless jock-type assholes. And apparently the whole wolf gene thing is supposed to be rare meanwhile it seems most of the tribe are wolves, just not the older people. It seems being young and sexy is the requirement of said gene, you can argue that it's because they've been around more Vampires bringing about the "fever" that turns them wolf or whatever..I just don't buy that as a free wolf voucher though.
